Visitor Visas

The basic Visitor (subclass 600) visa allows you to visa Australia for a period of up to three, six or 12 months. You are not allowed to work in Australia while on this visa.

Depending on your passport, you may be eligible to apply for the eVisitor Visa (651) or the Electronic Travel Authority Visa (601).

The Visitor Visa (600) consists of four streams. You can apply under any of these streams.

  • Tourist Stream
  • Business Visitor Stream
  • Sponsored Family Stream
  • For a tour with a registered travel agent from the People’s Republic of China.

Electronic Travel Authority (601)

This visa lets you enter Australia for up to three months at a time. It is valid for a 12 month period.

It must be applied for outside of Australia.

To be eligible to apply for the 601, you must hold an eligible passport.

  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong (SAR of China)
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy

  • Luxembourg
  • Malaysia
  • Malta
  • Monaco
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Republic of San Marino
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan
  • The Netherlands
  • United Kingdom—British Citizen
  • United Kingdom—British National (Overseas)
  • United States, and
  • Vatican City.

EVisitor (651)

This visa is free and allows you to visit Australia for periods of up to 3 months, within a 12 month period.

eVisitor-eligible passports are:

  • Andorra

  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Iceland

  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Monaco
  • The Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland

  • Slovak Republic

  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom – British Citizen, and
  • Vatican City.
